Thrifty Deals at Volunteer Antiques

On that rare occasion you deviate from your daily route you sometimes discover shops you've never seen before. Driving along Emory Road in Powell last week, I discovered mini flea markets scattered through local parking lots. And behind what looked like a junk shop from the outside, was the well-priced Volunteer Antiques (just north of Pleasant Ridge Road on Clinton Highway).

A little off the beaten track, room after room was filled with pre-loved goodies. And best of all, some sections are 20% off everything and others as much as 50%. Amongst collectable ruby red cut glassware, Avon cologne bottles, bric-a-brac and furniture there was even an old traffic light for $125.

The Manager said just about all prices are negotiable and not only do they have a 30 day layaway service, but they accept most major credit cards.
